Robot OS

Safety oversight for robot tasks, surroundings, and operating conditions.

The task is only part of the situation.

A robot can have a valid instruction while a person, obstacle, tool, or operating condition changes around it. Task execution needs oversight that takes the current setting into account.

Oversight where robots work.

Robot OS describes a public safety role for considering the robot's task, motion, workspace, and operator context together, with an accountable record of the operating decision.

Where the concept applies

Industrial and collaborative work: a robot shares a changing workspace with people and equipment. Service and assistive robotics: a device operates close to a person whose needs and surroundings can change. Rehabilitation and wearable robotics: the task also calls for attention to the operator's state and movement context.

Robot OS concerns the robot and its task. Mobility OS addresses control authority and intervention across travel environments; IronPU describes independent authority at the physical execution boundary.
